ARCADIS has played a pivotal role in the German green building certification process (DGNB criteria) for the headquarters of energy corporation E.ON in Regensburg. The planning phase of the project is underway- construction is due to commence in March. E.ON will rent this 4-5 story building covering 20.600 m2 from Fay Real which will include conference rooms, a casino and a restaurant. An exciting array of sustainable features will characterize the new headquarters: geothermal energy, green roofing, an aluminum and glass façade and third-party utilization. ARCADIS calculated the life-cycle costs and eco-balance for the structure. This will be the first ever building in Eastern Bavaria with this sustainability certification - to be attained at the end of 2011. Certification will mean that the building will remain attractive for E.ON and other tenants – E.ON have rented the building for 15 years.
